Q.1 b) The ‘Swachhta Saarthi Fellowship 2022’ was announced by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the government of India under its ‘Waste to Wealth’ mission.This fellowship has been announced for empowering young innovators- who are engaged in community work of waste management- in the role of ‘Swachhta Saarthis’. ‘Waste to Wealth’ mission is one of the nine national missions of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC).
Q.2 a) The RYSK Scheme is the flagship Central Sector Scheme of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. The Scheme beneficiaries are the youth in the age-group of 15-29 years. Its objective is to motivate youth to strive for excellence in their respective fields and use their energy for national building.
Q.3 a) Nehru Trophy Boat Race, a famous event held in Alappuzha of Kerala, is set to be held in Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year.The race will be held in the month of March in partnership with International Marine Sports Club Ras Al Khaimah at the Al Marjan Island, UAE. The name of the water race was set after Jawaharlal Nehru’s visit to Kerala Boat Race in 1952.
Q.4 b) A team of researchers has identified a new gecko species from the hills of Attappady, in the Western Ghats, Kerala.The new species, named Hemidactylus easai, belongs to the genus Hemidactylus goldfuss. The gecko measures 105 mm and is a light brown to grey in colour. India has 48 species of geckos of genus Hemidactylus goldfuss.
